Energy Calculator

First, what does E = mc2 even mean?

The equation is Albert Einstein's famous formula. It means that the energy is equal to the mass times the speed of light squared. This website uses it to calculate energy from mass. For more information, visit Mass–energy equivalence.

How does it work?

The energy calculator works by using the famous equation E = mc2 to calculate the amount of energy (E) in the mass (m).

Real World Examples

The energy that is calculated is only theoretical because it is at 100% efficiency, and it is impossible to generate energy at 100% efficency. Nuclear power generators are at less than 0.03% efficiency, and black holes only have 40% efficiency. The only way to have 100% efficiency is to use antimatter, which take more energy to create than they give.
